The Little will screen Difret (Zeresenay Mehari, Ethiopia / U.S. 2014, 99 min.) as part of the Women's History Month: Honoring Women In Public Service series.

A rural village in Ethiopia has a long standing tradition of kidnapping women for marriage. Difret is based on the true story of a young girl named Hirut who accidentally killed her abductor and would-be husband in self defense, an offense punishable by death, and her lawyer, Meaza as the fight not only for Hirut, but for the rights of all women in rural Ethiopia.
