The Dryden will screen Pasqualino Settebellezze (Seven Beauties, Lina Wertmüller, Italy 1975, 111 min., 35mm, Italian w/subtitles).

Giancarlo Giannini received an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of a Neapolitan lothario trying to support his seven ugly sisters and save his own skin during the dark days of World War II. The results of his attempts are some of the most comic and grotesque moments in Italian cinema. Lina Wertmüller was one of the controversial directors of the 1970s; this film, a surreal mixture of sex, humor, and violence, marked the apex of her international fame.
