Monty Python and the Holy Grail screening

2019-Jun-12 @ 20:30 - 22:01

The Dryden will screen Monty Python and the Holy Grail (Terry Gilliam, Terry Jones, U.K. 1975, 91 min., 35mm) as part of the Monty Python at 50 series.

In 1975, British comedy troupe Monty Python created what must surely be regarded as one of the funniest and strangest movies ever made. The mere mention of its title can send large groups of people into paroxysms of laughter and endless quoting of dialogue. Its relentless gallows humor and surreal imagery managed to spoof just about everything in existence, including history, mythology, gender, class, and even movies themselves. But perhaps the best and only way to describe it would be to quote the tagline from the movie's release poster: "And now! At last! Another film completely different from some of the other films which aren't quite the same as this one is."
