In the Project Space at VSW is Keith Johnson in Conversation with Photographer Dan Larkin.

In his photographic work, Keith Johnson has dealt with water and bodies of water for over 30 years. He has spent a lot of time in Rochester, NY (growing up and vacationing and studying), but has never photographed the Genesee River or Lake Ontario. He will be using his time in VSW's Project Space to focus on water in the area. Keith Johnson has been involved in photography since the early '70s graduating from RISD with an MFA studying with Harry Callahan and Aaron Siskind in 1975 following a year at VSW with Nathan Lyons. He has exhibited throughout the United States including solo shows at Fotofest in Houston, TX, George Eastman House in Rochester, NY, and The Print Center, in Philadelphia, PA. His work is included in collections at RISD, George Eastman House, and the Center for Creative Photography in Tuscson, AZ. Dan Larkin was born in Rochester, NY in 1955. He received a BFA from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1993 and his MFA from Bard College in 1994. He recently completed a series of landscape photographs made along the banks of the Genesee River. These photographs explore physical, historical, spiritual and cultural references to the past in a time of post-industrial regression. Dan is an Associate Professor in Fine Art Photography at the School of Photographic Arts and Sciences at RIT.
