A movie about people watching movies within movies: filmmaker Paul Anton Smith looks back at the audience in this montage of clips taken from more than one thousand films, ranging from romance and comedy to musicals and horror. Through the power of editing alone, Smith encapsulates his meditation on the experience of moviegoing with a feature-length narrative comprising multitudinous actors' emotional reactions to movies they are watching . . . within movies. Smith's film invites audiences to contemplate the simultaneous isolation and intimacy of moviegoing and reminisce about favorites from the spectacular span of cinematic history.
