Winner of the 2002 Drama Desk award for Outstanding Music and Lyrics, The Last Five Years was written by Tony Award-winner and former Eastman School of Music student, Jason Robert Brown. It follows New York City couple, Cathy and Jamie, who fall in and out of love over the course of their five-year relationship. The show's unconventional structure consists of Jamie's story — told chronologically — and Cathy's story — told backwards — which come together only once in the middle. This emotionally powerful and intimate stage musical, which was recently made into a feature film starring Pitch Perfect's Anna Kendrick and Smash's Jeremy Jordan, ingeniously chronicles the rise and fall of a modern marriage.
