One of the most innovative, controversial, and thought-provoking American independent films of recent time, Jason and Shirley re-imagines the electrifying power struggle between black gay hustler Jason Holliday (Jack Waters) and white documentary filmmaker Shirley Clarke (Sarah Schulman) during the 12-hour marathon filming session that gave rise to Clarke's iconic documentary Portrait of Jason (1967).
