• Updated: At the Strong Museum of Play tonight at 6 p.m. is a Candidate Forum on Disability Issues moderated by Bill Moran, from WCMF's The Break Room, and sponsored by AutismUp, Center for Disability Rights, Family Advocates United, Mental Health Association, NYS Disabilities Advocacy Association & Network, Regional Center for Independent Living, and Rochester ADAPT. The following candidates have confirmed attendance: for Monroe County Sherriff, Emily Good (representative); for Mayor, Alex White; for Rochester City Council, Marlowe Washington, Drew Langdon, Dorothy Paige, and David Atias; and for Rochester School Board, Ronald Hall, Lori Thomas, and Howard Eagle.   This candidate forum will focus on issues affecting people with disabilities of all ages, including children and seniors, as well as family members, co-workers and friends, as almost everyone is touched by disability.

Tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. is Un poquito de tanta verdad (A Little Bit of So Much Truth, Jill Freidberg, U.S./Mexico 2007, 90 min.) Then on Sunday at 3 p.m. is Brad, a documentary "about independent media center journalist Brad Will who captured his own murder on tape by Mexican paramilitaries on Oct. 27, 2006."   Wilderness Zones Safaris, based in Nairobi, offers experiences exploring the natural diversity, culture, and beauty that is Kenya. As a result of varied habitats, over 1090 species of birds, alone, have been recorded in Kenya's geographical boundaries. Varied habitats allow this rich avian diversity, as well as over 120 large mammals, 900 species of butterflies, and many other seen and unseen creatures.

• The Dryden will screen The St. Valentine's Day Massacre (Roger Corman, U.S. 1967, 100 min., 35mm) tonight at 8 p.m.
  

  Prohibition-era Chicago sets the scene for one of the most notorious and bloody episodes of American history: the gang war between Al Capone and George "Bugs" Moran. Corman tackles this well-known clash of bootleggers with a uniquely gritty style, taking great lengths to recreate the events in a historically accurate manner while "keeping the camera moving" (one of his personal mantras) with remarkable, stylized 'scope tracking shots. Jason Robards and George Segal star as Capone and his top enforcer and film-noir icon Ralph Meeker rounds out the cast as Moran in one of Corman's most accomplished, underrated films.

  Writer/performer Nora Cole (Fences, Voices of the Spirits in my Soul) lets us in on her process and inspirations for a new work, as yet untitled, about her ancestors, inspired by letters sent between her grandfather, a World War II Tuskegee Airman, and her grandmother. As a resident artist at Geva, funded by the Fox Foundation Actor Fellowship, she has researched her family's stories and will be in residence during the Festival, writing a performance piece inspired by her discoveries. This event will feature excerpts of her writing and a conversation facilitated by Geva's Literary Director, Jenni Werner.

• Starting tonight at 7:30 p.m. and running through November 9, Rochester Community Players presents Shakespeare's Julius Caesar at the MuCCC.
  

  The play tells the tale of the conspiracy to assassinate "the foremost man of all this world", the famous funeral oration of Mark Antony, which turned the fickled mob against the murderers, and the downfall of the conspirators Brutus and Cassius.

  A postmodern approach to the observational documentary, Peter Nicks's film about the patients, doctors, and staff of Oakland's Highland Hospital offers unprecedented access to typically private areas as well as deep insight into our current medical system. Blending cinéma vérité footage with interviews with doctors, nurses, staff, and patients, The Waiting Room is an unobtrusive, personal record of the hospital's daily functions and the difficulties of treating a community of largely uninsured patients.

  Horror legends Vincent Price, Peter Lorre, and Boris Karloff star as warring sorcerers in this tongue-in-cheek burlesque of the Edgar Allan Poe classic. Haunted by the death of his beloved wife Lenore, Dr. Erasmus Craven (Price) is tormented by a raven that happens to contain the spirit of transformed wizard Dr. Bedlo (Lorre). After restoring Bedlo to his original form, Craven is persuaded to join him in seeking revenge against the menacing Dr. Scarabus (Karloff), whose castle is said to house Lenore's ghost. Mayhem ensues in this hilarious horror spoof, with a script by genre master Richard Matheson, an early appearance by Corman protégé Jack Nicholson, and gleeful performances by the three leads.

• Tonight through Monday, and on Wednesday and Thursday at the Little at 9:30 p.m. are screenings of Escape from Tomorrow (Randy Moore, U.S. 2013, 90 min.)
  

  From the moment it premiered at this year's Sundance Film Festival, Escape From Tomorrow generated enormous buzz — most of it directed at how the film was made. Writer/director Randy Moore wanted to make a movie that criticized the incessant commercialization of entertainment — Disney, in particular — so he, his actors, and his crew posed as tourists and shot the film inside Disney parks, without the company's knowledge or permission. They filmed on the rides, in front of the famous characters, near real tourists, and around the beloved locations.

• Tonight at 7 p.m. at the Little is a screening of The State of Arizona (Carlos Sandoval, Catherine Tambini, U.S. 2013, 90 min.) followed by a Panel Discussion with "immigration law expert Walter H. Ruehle, and Father Jesus Flores, Diocesan Coordinator for Migrant Ministry".
  

  The State of Arizona interweaves the volatile themes of immigration and race portrayed through a mosaic of characters and their responses to the law. The film's three-act structure is built around the turbulent arc of the law, from the Governor's signing of the bill in 2010 to the Supreme Court's June 2012 pronouncement on its constitutionality. Through the personal stories of individuals impacting and impacted by immigration policies, the film explores the social and political circumstances that gave rise to SB1070, examining the roles played by government and business, as well as the human consequences of the policy.

  John Barrymore, the "Great Profile" and mercurially brilliant romantic actor of both stage and screen, loved confounding audiences' expectations with grotesque and macabre portrayals driven more by his body and intellectual control than by makeup. His dual role here is one of the great silent screen performances, and was based partially on his stage interpretation of Shakespeare's Richard III. Millicent, Jekyll's fiancée, is played by beautiful Martha Mansfield (who died only three years later when her dress caught fire on a film location), and the supremely sinister Brandon Hurst appears as Millicent's father, who goads Jekyll into exploring the dark side of human nature. This glistening Eastman House print is from the original camera negative, with tinted sequences.

  Have you watched "The Twilight Zone"? Join us for a special lunch time book review. Anne Serling, author of her biography about her Dad, will explore the deep bond with her father-creator of "The Twilight Zone"- his commitment to social justice, and her struggle with grief following his death in 1975 at the age of 50. Copies of her hardcover book will be available for sale and Anne will autograph copies.

• Tonight at 8 p.m. at the Dryden is a screening of Atlantic City (Louis Malle, Canada/France 1980, 104 min., 35mm).
  

  Recalling an aging version of one of his fatalistic film noir heroes, Lancaster plays a small-time hood who lies to himself and others about his past accomplishments. He befriends a young croupier played by Susan Sarandon, who comes to him for help when her estranged husband leaves her with stolen drugs. When Lancaster passes off the parcel, the salesmen come looking for their merchandise, giving the fake gangster a chance to be the man he always thought he was. Lancaster, unafraid to play "old," proves his fearlessness and versatility in this tale of failed dreams and ultimate redemption.
