Anna, an American film actor on a press junket in London, has a meet-cute with bookstore owner Will (Hugh Grant), which turns into a series of romantic-comedic difficulties and, ultimately, disappointment. Over the years, however, the two can't get each other out of their heads, and subsequent trips to London make it possible for a relationship between a Hollywood superstar and a shy bookseller possible.
