Long out of print, Metaphors on Vision has just been republished by Anthology Film Archives and Light Industry (edited by scholar P. Adams Sitney). To celebrate this definitive new edition, the Eastman Museum presents a program of films that combines a pair of rarely screened works that influenced Brakhage—Marie Menken's Notebook (1963) and Ian Hugo's Melodic Inversion (1958)— with two of his own films, the productions of which are discussed extensively in Metaphors—the pivotal Anticipation of the Night (1958) and The Dead (1960).

[source: George Eastman Museum calendar, 2018-Feb-14]

The Dryden will screen: Notebook (Marie Menken, U.S. 1962, 10 min.), Melodic Inversion (Ian Hugo, U.S. 1958, 8 min.), The Dead (Stan Brakhage, U.S. 1960, 11 min.), and Anticipation of the Night (Stan Brakhage, U.S. 1958, 40 min.) with an … Continue reading →

[3254
post-17155","tribe_events","type-tribe_events","status-publish","hentry","tribe_events_cat-jayceland-2018-feb-15","cat_jayceland-2018-feb-15
["GET
