I spent some time at <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bugjar.com\">The Bug Jar<\/a><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.myspace.com\/bugjar\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/jayceland.com\/images\/MySpace_13x13overFFFFFF.gif\" border=\"0\" alt=\"MySpace link\" width=\"13\" height=\"13\" \/><\/a> (<a href=\"https:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?q=219+Monroe+Ave,+Rochester,+NY&amp;ll=43.15013,-77.60017&amp;spn=.007,.014&amp;hl=en\">219 Monroe Ave.<\/a>) and met some cool people from the bands and from around town.  The bands didn't start until late, but another local musician and friend of members of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/themissingteens.com\/\">The Missing Teens<\/a><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.myspace.com\/missingteens\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/jayceland.com\/images\/MySpace_13x13overFFFFFF.gif\" border=\"0\" alt=\"MySpace link\" width=\"13\" height=\"13\" \/><\/a> offered to let them play a bit in the basement.  So we went there for a few minutes and a few songs &mdash; a proper preview of the great, high-energy rock with a lounge-jam edge we were to see later on.<\/p>\n<p>Back at the Bug Jar, <strong>Illimanjaro<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.myspace.com\/illimanjaromusic\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/jayceland.com\/images\/MySpace_13x13overFFFFFF.gif\" border=\"0\" alt=\"MySpace link\" width=\"13\" height=\"13\" \/><\/a> kicked things off with some high-power, melodic, fast rock.  Their guitarist was particularly apt at very fast playing and did a few impressive solos.  <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/themissingteens.com\/\">The Missing Teens<\/a><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.myspace.com\/missingteens\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/jayceland.com\/images\/MySpace_13x13overFFFFFF.gif\" border=\"0\" alt=\"MySpace link\" width=\"13\" height=\"13\" \/><\/a> was up next, replacing the temporary iPod with Illimanjaro's drummer and not one but <em>two<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Keytar\">keytars<\/a>. <strong>Thunderbang!<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.myspace.com\/yesthunderbangyes\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/jayceland.com\/images\/MySpace_13x13overFFFFFF.gif\" border=\"0\" alt=\"MySpace link\" width=\"13\" height=\"13\" \/><\/a> finished things off with some well-executed funky lounge-rock and even got a few people dancing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It's been a while since I wrote about seeing music at all &#8230; but I have been out.
