SUMMARY:Water Lilies of Monet: The Magic of Water and Light screening (2019-Jul-21 @ 3 p.m.)
DESCRIPTION:The Little will screen Water Lilies of Monet: The Magic of Water and Light (Giovanni Troilo\, Italy 2018\, 80 min.) as part of the Little Summer of Music and Art series. \nWater Lilies by Monet — the Magic of Water and Light tells the story of the origin of a massive work of art that broke with convention\, of an artist resurrecting his life only thanks to painting. His human endeavor defied both space and conventions in his timeless masterpieces. \nIn a war-torn country\, the undisputed genius of French Art disrupted the art world and changes it forever. As the end of the First World War drew near it became clear to Monet that his work of art could not but be his final legacy to France: a symbol of peace\, hope\, and resistance\, in a battered and bloody world. \nThis is the tale of an obsession with light and water the painter could not escape from and how he transformed it into a kind of magic. A tale of the radical elements that revolutionized Modern Art: Monet's clear intent was to transfer onto canvas the "first\, pure impression" of forms and objects as they appear to the eye that has never seen them before. \nAnd this documentary will show the Water Lilies by Claude Monet\, as they have never been seen before. A unique\, exclusive look at the masterpieces housed at the Orangerie Museum\, the Marmottan Museum\, the Orsay Museum and Giverny\, for the first time ever on the big screen for an unrepeatable experience. \n\n [source: Little Theatre calendar\, 2019-Jul-15]

SUMMARY:Chatham Rabbits musical performance
DESCRIPTION:Sarah Osborne McCombie and Austin McCombie met because of music\, and today they play old-time music together full-time as Chatham Rabbits. This husband-and-wife duo lives in a mill house in Bynum on the banks of the Haw River\, the same house where a mill working family once lived and played music\, and the husband from that family played as part of a mill-sponsored stringband that was known as The Chatham Rabbits. Sarah and Austin met in 2013 when he spotted her onstage at the Cat's Cradle opening for Mandolin Orange. He didn't know much about old-time music\, and she didn't know much about him\, but they figured it out. This past summer\, they decided to leave their corporate careers to take Chatham Rabbits full-time. Together they've played smoky bars and summer festivals; busked on the streets of Nashville 'til their voices wore out; put a tune to the love at their best friends' wedding; and led churches in old-time hymns way past it was time for Sunday lunch. They are working with Robust Records (Mipso; Hank\, Pattie and the Current) and will release their debut album in 2019. \n [source: Abilene Bar and Lounge website\, 2019-Jul-15]

SUMMARY:TMT Trio + 2 musical performance
DESCRIPTION:Brooklyn/Cleveland-based jazz group TMT Trio features Juno Award-winner Cat Toren on piano\, Angela Morris on tenor saxophone\, and Anthony Taddeo on drums. Uniquely sans bass\, TMT showcases the multifaceted chamber music character of the piano by drawing from modern jazz\, new music and avant-rock. Their repertoire features original compositions\, collective improvisations and re-imaginings of standards by the three band members. After five years as a band\, the trio released their debut album\, Star Ballad\, in 2017. TMT has toured the U.S. extensively\, and most recently performed a two-hour composition in the Akron Art Gallery as part of the exhibit Jerry Birchfield: Asleep in the Dust. TMT Trio is proud to have worked as educators in various youth jazz programs including the Boys and Girls Clubs of Cleveland\, Cuyahoga Community College and SOTA Arts. This tour the trio will be joined by decorated composers and musicians: Chris Coles (winner of the Knight Arts Challenge) and Sam Blakeslee (2018 Recipient of the David Baker Prize). TMT Trio + 2 will be writing new compositions specifically for this tour! \n [source: Bop Shop website\, 2019-Jul-15]
