SUMMARY:Jontavious Willis musical performance
DESCRIPTION:Every generation or so a young bluesman bursts onto the scene. Someone who sends a jolt through blues lovers. Someone who has mastered the craft for sure\, but who also has the blues deep down in his heart and soul. \nAt the age of 22\, bluesman Jontavious Willis may be the one. "That's my Wonderboy\, the Wunderkind\," Taj Mahal said after inviting Jontavious to play on stage in 2015. "He's a great new voice of the twenty-first century in the acoustic blues. I just love the way he plays." \nAnd four years later he was playing on Taj Mahal's stage. "When I heard him play I said to myself: this is how the blues\, as I know it\, is going to stay alive\," said Paul Oscher. \n"Only a few like him emerge every decade or so\, when even the most hard core blues fans realize immediately that this is the real deal\," writes Frank Matheis in Living Blues Magazine. \nHailing from Greenville\, Ga.\, Jontavious grew up singing gospel music at the Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church with his grandfather. At the age of 14\, he came across a YouTube video of Muddy Waters playing "Hoochie Coochie Man" and was hooked. That's when he set his course on the blues. All types — Delta\, Piedmont\, Texas\, gospel. As a fingerpicker\, flat-picker and slide player. On guitar\, harmonica\, banjo and cigar box. \n\n [source: Bop Shop website\, 2019-Aug-5]

SUMMARY:Real Steam Train Rides (2019-Aug-17 @ 10 a.m.)
DESCRIPTION:This summer the hills will once again echo with steam whistles when the Rochester and Genesee Valley Railroad Museum hosts real steam train rides on August 17-18 and 24-25. The museum will host Viscose Co. No. 6\, a vintage steam locomotive that once operated for the American Viscose Co. in Roanoke\, Virginia. If you've heard of Thomas the Tank Engineâ„¢\, this is his real life cousin! \nEnjoy a ride in our new open-air touring car so you can experience all the sights and sounds of the steam locomotive as it works hard to pull against the steep grades. Seats are also available inside our caboose if you prefer a quieter ride. Thanks to the cooperation of the neighboring New York Museum of Transportation\, visitors will be able to enjoy an extended two-mile round trip through our bucolic museum grounds. \nLive entertainment will be provided by banjo player Mike Kornrich. Tour our museum exhibits and enjoy our large collection of historic trains. Refreshments will be available for purchase. Our museum gift shop is stocked with many railroad souvenirs for train buffs of all ages. Train rides depart every 45 minutes. All Aboard! \n\n [source: Rochester and Genesee Valley Railroad Museum website\, 2019-Aug-5]

SUMMARY:Real Steam Train Rides (2019-Aug-18 @ 10 a.m.)
DESCRIPTION:This summer the hills will once again echo with steam whistles when the Rochester and Genesee Valley Railroad Museum hosts real steam train rides on August 17-18 and 24-25.

SUMMARY:Death Valley Girls\, Mike Bruno\, John Markow musical performances
DESCRIPTION:Death Valley Girls – At the core of Death Valley Girls\, vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Bonnie Bloomgarden and guitarist Larry Schemel channel a modern spin on Fun House's sonic exorcisms\, ZZ Top's desert-blasted riffage\, and Sabbath's occult menace. On their third album Darkness Rains\, Death Valley Girls churn out the hypercharged scuzzy rock every generation yearns for\, but there is a more subversive force percolating beneath the surface that imbues the band with an exhilarating cosmic energy. \n [source: Facebook\, 2019-Aug-5]

SUMMARY:Paul Cebar and Tomorrow Sound musical performance
DESCRIPTION:Paul Cebar Tomorrow Sound bring forth a funky\, lyrically charged racket that is explosive\, yet intimate. \nTaking cues from the dance bands of western Louisiana (and his native Midwest\,)\, the streets (and 45's) of New Orleans\, touring African and Caribbean combos and the soul\, funk and blues of his youth\, Paul Cebar is a masterful synthesist of rhythmic culture. His time spent in his second home of New Orleans\, as a musicologist in Florida\, and as a journeyman wanderer in Cuba\, is reflected in his musical worldview. \nAt the core is gifted songwriting\, and the company Paul keeps bears it out: Bonnie Raitt\, Nick Lowe\, Chris Smither\, John Hiatt and Cesar Rosas are among his friends and admirers. \nTomorrow Sound are an elite crew. Drummer Reggie Bordeaux\, New Orleans native percussionist Mac Perkins\, and bassist Mike Fredrickson\, throw down some of the best dance grooves in the business. Multi-instrumentalist Bob Jennings adds the luxury of implying a much larger ensemble with his multi-hued contributions on keys and reeds. \n\n [source: Abilene Bar and Lounge website\, 2019-Aug-5]

SUMMARY:Steve Katz musical performance
DESCRIPTION:Legendary guitarist Steve Katz is or at least was definitely a rock star: a pioneer of the blues-rock genre with his early 1960s band\, the Blues Project; a founder in the late 1960s of the groundbreaking and hugely popular jazz-rock big band Blood\, Sweat and Tears; and the producer of Lou Reed's best-selling and still-influential live LP Rock 'n' Roll Animal (as well as its follow-up Sally Can't Dance\, Reed's only top-10 album). Katz engagingly recounts fascinating stories in an insightful\, intelligent\, sometimes wistful and sometimes funny style that makes this one of the few rock memoirs worth reading from beginning to end. Highlights include his early days getting lessons from blues guitar genius Rev. Gary Davis in a "little clapboard shanty" in the South Bronx; the birth of Blood\, Sweat and Tears despite Katz's contentious relationship with co-founder and Dylan collaborator Al Kooper ("Al never liked my guitar playing and I never liked his voice"); the phenomenal success with Kooper's replacement singer\, David Clayton-Thomas of BS&T's second self-titled LP with hits such as "Spinning Wheel"; and later\, "David's transformation from soul singer to slinger of schmaltz." Katz also reveals that the audience sound on Reed's live LP was lost and then replaced by the audience track from a John Denver live LP\, a priceless story for all Reed fans or detractors. — Publisher's Weekly\, May\, 2015 \n [source: Bop Shop website\, 2019-Aug-5]
