SUMMARY:Rochester's Rich History: Letters From A Doughboy
DESCRIPTION:In the Kusler-Cox Auditorium of the Rundel Library Building is a Rochester's Rich History lecture titled Letters From A Doughboy. \nIn the years after World War I\, Robert Truesdell never spoke of his war experience\, but he wrote more than 100 letters to his parents describing the details of his life in the service. The letters span a period of time starting with his arrival in the Fall of 1917 at Camp Wadsworth\, South Carolina and concluding with his participation in the Victory March up Fifth Avenue in New York City in 1919. After Truesdell s death\, his daughter discovered the letters and carefully transcribed each one. The informative commentary places Truesdell s personal correspondence into a much greater historical context. \n [source: Rochester City Newspaper events calendar\, 2019-Nov-13]

SUMMARY:Raise Hell: The Life and Times Of Molly Ivins screening (2019-Nov-16 @ 2:30 p.m.)
DESCRIPTION:The Little will screen Raise Hell: The Life and Times Of Molly Ivins (Janice Engel\, U.S. 2019\, 93 min.) as part of the One Take Documentary Series. \nRaise Hell: The Life and Times of Molly Ivins tells the story of media firebrand Molly Ivins\, six feet of Texas trouble who took on the Good Old Boy corruption wherever she found it. Her razor sharp wit left both sides of the aisle laughing\, and craving ink in her columns. She knew the Bill of Rights was in peril\, and said "Polarizing people is a good way to win an election and a good way to wreck a country." Molly's words have proved prescient. Now it's up to us to raise hell. \n [source: Little Theatre calendar\, 2019-Nov-11]

SUMMARY:Gary Gulman comic performance (2019-Nov-16 @ 7 p.m.)
DESCRIPTION:Over 25 years in comedy\, Gary Gulman has established himself as an eminent performer and peerless writer. Gulman's latest special\, "The Great Depresh\," is his most ambitious work yet — a tour de force look at mental illness\, equal parts captivating and inspiring. And even as Gulman describes hospitalization\, experimental treatments\, and childhood trauma\, "The Great Depresh" manages to be every bit as hilarious as Gulman's past work. \nA product of Boston\, Gulman has been a scholarship college football player\, an accountant\, and a high school teacher. He has made countless television appearances as both a comedian and an actor. And now\, Gary is on tour with "The Great Depresh." \n\n [source: Comedy at the Carlson website\, 2019-Nov-11]

SUMMARY:Bisbee '17 screening
DESCRIPTION:The Dryden will screen Bisbee '17 (Robert Greene\, U.S. 2018\, 112 min.\, DCP). \nIn 1917\, in Bisbee\, Arizona\, 1\,200 striking miners were violently taken from their homes\, banished to the desert\, and left to die. In 2017\, the small town set out to re-create the deportation\, casting descendants of the original incident on both sides of the conflict. What transpired was one of the most amazing manifestations of empathy caught on film. Documentarian Robert Greene (Kate Plays Christine) was there to capture the events and people who took part. Beautifully shot and interspersed with historical and contemporary background interviews\, this unforgettable film will stay with you long after the credits have rolled. \n [source: George Eastman Museum website\, 2019-Nov-11]
