SUMMARY:Tavern Takeover
DESCRIPTION:On Wednesday evening\, August 30th\, the Landmark Society's Young Urban Preservationists (YUPS) are partnering with Emerging Rochester Architects (ERA)\, and Swiftwater Brewing to bring you a first-time event at the oldest house in Monroe County. The Landmark Society's Stone-Tolan House Historic Site was built in the late 18th and early 19th centuries as a farm\, home\, and tavern. On August 30th\, for one night only\, we're turning it back into a functioning tavern with beer from Swiftwater Brewing and snacks. \n [source: Landmark Society website\, 2017-Aug-21]

SUMMARY:42 screening
DESCRIPTION:The Dryden will screen 42 (Brian Helgeland\, U.S. 2013\, 128 min.\, 35mm) as part of the America's Favorite Pastime series. \nUniform number 42 was retired across all of major league baseball in 1997 to honor Jackie Robinson\, who ultimately broke the color barrier preventing black players from joining major league rosters. This dramatization of that fateful 1947 season stars Chadwick Boseman as Jackie\, who endured endemic racism while leading the Brooklyn Dodgers to the National League pennant\, and Harrison Ford as Branch Rickey\, the general manager of the Dodgers who hand-picked Robinson. The George Eastman Museum is proud to present one of the few 35mm prints made of this modern classic. \n [source: George Eastman Museum calendar\, 2017-Aug-21]
