SUMMARY:In Between Personal Master Class with Arisleyda Dilone

If you are interested in gaining skill as a documentary filmmaker\, writer\, or to tell the story of your community this class will provide you with the experience you need. SUMMARY:Bilder der Welt und Inschrift des Krieges (Images of the World and the Inscription of War) screening
DESCRIPTION:The Dryden will screen Bilder der Welt und Inschrift des Krieges (Images of the World and the Inscription of War\, Harun Farocki\, West Germany 1989\, 75 min.\, digital file\, German w/subtitles) as part of the (In)visibility series. \nThe late German filmmaker and theorist Harun Farocki observed in 1992: "Since its invention\, film has seemed destined to make history visible." Images of the World and the Inscription of War seems to reply: what if we don't see what film makes visible\, until it is already history? In this examination of technology and morality\, Farocki probes the American military's failure (or was it refusal?) to recognize and act upon evidence of Auschwitz's existence\, as revealed in 1944 reconnaissance images. From this inquiry stems an unsettling and free-associative cinematic essay on hidden identities\, camouflage\, decoys\, and masks—unfolding\, in Farocki's trademark style\, through an assemblage of multiple visual media. \n [source: George Eastman Museum website\, 2016-Dec-5]

SUMMARY:Jimkata musical performance
DESCRIPTION:Childhood friends Evan Friedell\, Aaron Gorsch and Packy Lunn come together as the four piece synth-pop powerhouse known as Jimkata. Smashing together arena sized rock energy and highly tattoo-able lyrics this band can be perfectly described as huge. Lead singer and lyricist Friedell has been likened to a modern day Peter Gabriel with his emphatic\, energetic performances of his vulnerable\, relatable and powerful lyrics. A tasteful blend of fiery guitars\, analog synthesizers and pop catchiness\, Jimkata's main charm is their ability to have you singing along by the second verse while kicking out a hard hitting rock show. To describe the sound\, it's as if David Byrne was arm wrestling with TV on the Radio backstage at a Rush concert. \n [source: Up All Night website\, 2016-Dec-5]
