In the news: Apri! 22, 2020 marks the 50th year of Earth Day. The first Earth Day in 1970 enlisted 20 million Americans and is credited with launching the modern environmental movement. It is now recognized as the planet's largest civic event and it led to passage of landmark environmental laws in the U.S., including the Clean Air, Clear Water and Endangered Species Acts.

@ the Library: Today, the Library (a division of the City of Rochester) — and the City — are working on many green initiatives. The Office of Energy and Sustainability (OES) is part of the City of Rochester's Division of Environmental Quality, and was created to make Rochester a model for innovative and ecologically sustainable operations, policies and practices, and to connect the City with regional and national sustainability resources.
