Tintype photography class

2016-Feb-27 @ 09:00 - 17:00

$150

Jenn Libby will teach a class at Genesee Libby Studio titled Tintypes.

This one-day class will teach you the basics of the wet-plate collodion process to produce direct positive images on metal, which are commonly known as tintypes. Traditionally made on japanned iron plates, these were more accurately called ferrotypes. Many contemporary tintypists are using aluminum plates, which is what we will be using. Instruction will include how to prepare a plate, pour collodion, sensitize and process plates, and apply a protective varnish to complete the process. Cameras will be provided for use during the class.
