The Parent Trap screening
2016-Mar-20 @ 14:00 - 16:06
The Dryden will screen The Parent Trap (David Swift, U.S. 1961, 126 min., 35mm).
In this charmingly twisted Disney classic, Sharon and Susan are thirteen-year-old summer camp rivals. When forced to get to know each other, the two quickly realize that they have more in common than just a knack for clever hijinks—namely, genetics. Discovering that they are separated identical twins, the two concoct a plan to switch places and get to know the parent that each never knew, but when Sharon arrives in California to the announcement that their father is getting married, the twins become determined to make their parents fall in love again. A true family film, The Parent Trap contains two storylines, a teen comedy and an adult romance. With the help of trick cinematography and a body double, both twins are seamlessly portrayed by Hayley Mills (Pollyanna), and Maureen O'Hara is delightful as their sophisticated but playful mother.
