In two days it will be Baby Duke Broadnax's birthday party. Lettie Jean, who has been away for two years, has come home to the Brownstone a few days early for Baby Duke's birthday. Why are Sister, Lettie Jean's oldest sibling, and Aunt Mae, the sister of Lettie Jean's mother, both so focused on Lettie Jean's welfare…and why is Miss Addy, owner of the Brownstone, her family homestead, selling it?
