Swimming to Cambodia theatrical performance (2015-Dec-18 @ 8 p.m.)
2015-Dec-18 @ 20:00 - 22:00
$10In 1983, actor Spalding Gray was cast in the Vietnam War-set drama "The Killing Fields." This would inspire him to craft a monologue about his experiences making the film, along with personal memories of the war and life in New York City. It would later be made as a highly-acclaimed film in 1987, directed by Jonathan Demme. "Swimming to Cambodia" was staged by Aspie Works during the Rochester Fringe Festival in September, with label founder Justin Rielly starring. Rielly will reprise the play for this encore two-night staged reading run of Gray's landmark work. After the December 18 performance, a post-show discussion will follow, with an appearance by Kathleen Russo, the widow of Spalding Gray. She prepared the adaptation of Swimming to Cambodia being performed, along with other stage adaptations of her late husband's work.
