Alan Ladd plays a buckskin-clad ex-gunfighter trying to go straight in a film many consider both the ultimate expression of the western legend and the ultimate family western. Shot outside Jackson Hole and around Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming, by Loyal Griggs (awarded the Oscar for Best Cinematography), Shane is framed by some of the most spectacularly rugged geography ever seen on film.
