Peggy Guggenheim screening

2016-Jul-17 @ 11:30 - 13:05

$12

The Dryden will screen Peggy Guggenheim (Lisa Immordino Vreeland, Italy/U.K./U.S. 2015, 95 min., English) as part of the Rochester International Jewish Film Festival.

Peggy Guggenheim, a legendary figure, an heiress, and one of the most powerful women in the history of the art world, was not only ahead of her time but also helped to define it. As she moved through the cultural upheaval of the twentieth century, she collected not only art, but also artists. Her colorful personal history included trysts, affairs and marriages with such figures as Samuel Beckett, Max Ernst, Jackson Pollock, Alexander Calder, Marcel Duchamp and countless others. While fighting through personal tragedy, she acheived her vision to build one of the world's most important collections of modern art which is enshrined in her famous Venetian palazzo.
