NTID Rededication Ceremony
2019-Apr-05 @ 09:00 - 10:00
Please join us on Friday, April 5, as we rededicate the National Technical Institute for the Deaf with a ceremony at 9 a.m. in Panara Theatre, followed by a brief reception.
In September 1968, 44 deaf men and 26 deaf women arrived at the RIT campus to become the charter class of NTID, established by Congress via Public Law 89-36. It's been 50 years since we opened our doors, and now with more than 8,000 graduates, we're still going strong.
President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the NTID Act into law in 1965, and his widow, Lady Bird Johnson, pictured, attended the original dedication of the NTID campus in 1974. We are honored that their granddaughter, Lucinda Robb, plans to travel to Rochester to participate in the ceremony.
