My So-Called Enemy screening
Tonight at 6:30 p.m., the Little will screen My So-Called Enemy (Lisa Gossels, U.S. 2010, 89 min.) as part of The Best of the Fests series followed by a discussion with director Lisa Gossels.
Adi, Gal, Hanin, Inas, Rawan and Rezan — six Israeli and Palestinian teenagers — first meet at a women's leadership program in the U.S. called Building Bridges for Peace. Their commitment to justice and mutual understanding as the conflict continues to rage in their homeland leads these "enemies" to see each other as human beings. By following these remarkable women over the next seven years, this award-winning, coming-of-age film presents the complexities of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through the human lens, and opens our eyes to the personal, political and physical borders that stand in the way of conflict resolution in this post-9/11 world. Filmmaker Lisa Gossels' inspiring documentary offers profound messages about tolerance, inclusion and respect, and about what it takes to create a lasting peace.
