The Dryden will screen Jujiro (Teinosuke Kinugasa, Japan 1928, 74 min., 35mm) with live piano accompaniment by Dr. Philip C. Carli as part of the Silent Tuesdays series.

In a cinema obsessed with swordplay and simple melodrama, Teinosuke Kinugasa created this silent film bordering on the avant-garde in its use of a subjective camera and striking visual effects. The audience experiences the emotions of a man who believes himself a murderer and empathizes with the hardships laid upon his protective sister. Like Kinugasa's A Page of Madness, Jujiro was rediscovered and rightfully hailed as a classic fifty years after its release.
