Introduction To Patents and Trademarks

2016-May-07 @ 10:30 - 12:00

Think you have a better mousetrap? What if Mr. Smith in Idaho has already thought of it and has a patent on the very same idea? How can Wegmans use a very similar "W" to that of Walgreens to advertise their store? Learn why patents are essential, what makes up Intellectual Property rights, and the process involved in protecting those rights. Information on trademarks, which are the symbols that represent the World's goods and services, will also be covered. Speakers are Kate Meddaugh and Deb Nevin, Patent and Trademark librarians from the Central Library of Rochester and Monroe County.
