In the 3-6408 (K-307) Medical Center, Dr. Merrily Kuhn will discuss Health Bites: Spices as Natural Medicine.
Dr. Merrily Kuhn. In the last decade, major medical centers have identified how selected spices can compliment the prevention and management of chronic disorders. Based on human clinical trials published in the last decade, this unique seminar separates popular claims from scientifically validated discoveries for the use of spices as natural medicines. Dr. Kuhn will discuss the gut and its function, bioavailability, disorders of the GI tract including Celiac Disease and Irritable Bowel Syndrome, gluten-and easein-free diets, autism, and the use of Capsaicin (chili), Curcumin (teurmeric), Gingerol (ginger), Quercetin (e.g., garlic), Cinnamon, Coriander, Mint, Peppermint and Resveratrol in treatment.
