Ghajini screening
2019-Nov-23 @ 20:00 - 23:03
The Dryden will screen Ghajini (A. R. Murugadoss, India 2008, 183 min., 35mm, Hindi and Urdu w/subtitles) as part of the Festival of Indian Cinema series.
This film's journey to the screen is nearly as complex as its plot. A Hindi reworking of the director's own 2005 Tamil film of the same name, the film has too many shadows of Christopher Nolan's Memento (2000) to be a coincidence. Sanjay (Aamir Khan) loses his memory every fifteen minutes and uses a system of photographs, notes, and tattoos to keep him anchored and focused on his mission: avenging the murder of his girlfriend. He has identified Ghajini Dharmatma (Pradeep Rawat) as the culprit, but a young medical student caught in the middle warns Ghajini that Sanjay is coming. This film became the highest-grossing of all time in India, in no small part due to music from the legendary A. R. Rahman.
