Our lives are hyper-visual. We engage images on multiple screens and image sharing increases daily; Instagram alone has 1.6 billion images shared with 60 million images liked a day. It is more important than ever that we employ critical thinking when using visual representations. Found, Shared, Liked is an afternoon symposium to discuss the history of appropriation of images for expressive purposes, photo sharing as a phenomenon, and to study the concept of fair use. Found, Shared, Liked is in connection with VSW's exhibition The Curious Reality of Images by Rick McKee Hock who appropriated images to great effect in his own creative work.
