Endangered Features by Spencer Christiano theatrical performance (2016-Aug-7 @ 2 p.m.)

2016-Aug-07 @ 14:00 - 16:00

$12

What's your favorite movie? The one you've seen a hundred times, that you could quote from memory. What if you could never see that movie again? What if it were to completely disappear, and the world forgot it ever existed? Endangered Features is the coming-of-age story of an accidental archivist. This true story chronicles one projectionist's journey from falling in love with escapist cinema as a young boy, to growing up working in a charmingly scrappy neighborhood movie theater, to preserving cinema at one of the world's top film archives, and traveling to India to teach a new generation of preservationists the skills they can use to prevent their cultural history from fading into oblivion. This one-man play invites you to explore the secret world of the projection booth, and shows what lies behind the glass port. This intimate, intriguing, and enchanting play exposes film exhibition as a technical art, reveals the hidden evolution of cinema from its analog roots to cutting-edge digital, and commemorates what we have lost— and what is still at risk.
