Abundance will host a Co-op Education Series Event on Collective courage : a history of African American cooperative economic thought and practice by Jessica Gordon Nembhard including a Video and Panel Discussion with Lomax Campbell.

Major figures in black history, W.E.B. Dubois, Ella Baker, Marcus Garvey, Fannie Lou Hamer, Halana Wilson and A. Phillip Randolph were all involved in cultivating cooperatives. Gordon Nembhard details the courageous path from mutual aid societies and organized labor to form black cooperatives in the face of white supremacist terrorism.
