The Dryden will screen Bride of Frankenstein (James Whale, U.S. 1935, 75 min., 16mm).

Forced into directing the sequel, Whale arguably betters his original with this allegorical horror classic. Boris Karloff delivers a multilayered, emotive performance from under 62 pounds of makeup and costume. Colin Clive repeats his role as the tortured Dr. Frankenstein, and Ernest Thesiger provides a touch of the perverse as Dr. Pretorius, in a film many consider the greatest of horror movies.
