The Dryden will screen Blaxploitalian (Fred Kudjo Kuwornu, Italy / U.S. 2016, 65 min., DCP, English and Italian w/subtitles) with filmmaker Fred Kudjo Kuwornu in person, as part of the Survey of Contemporary Italian Cinema series.

Blaxploitalian is a documentary about the role of actors of African descent throughout the history of Italian cinema, beginning with the first black artist to appear uncredited in the 1915 Italian film Salambò, directed by Domenico Gaido. Italian-Ghanaian filmmaker Fred Kuwornu offers a unique insight into the reality of African-Italian and African diasporic actors working in the Italian entertainment industry.
