Active Transportation Summit

2019-May-23 @ 08:30 - 16:00

$45

Be part of the growing movement around active transportation by joining us at the third Active Transportation Summit on Thursday, May 23, 2019, at The Rochester Riverside Hotel.

This year's theme, Ideas into Motion builds on the work accomplished since the last summit was held in 2013. The Summit is a forum for a unique crossroads of professionals and advocates from multiple sectors to convene and collaborate to advance active transportation and recreation opportunities for people of all ages and abilities across the Finger Lakes Region.

Our keynote address will be delivered by Mark Fenton, a dynamic speaker and public health, planning and transportation consultant to communities around the country. Mark is a Brockport local and has worked with many municipalities across upstate New York. In line with our theme of getting people moving, Mark will also be conducting a walk audit with some of the conference attendees during a breakout session.

Our plenary speaker is Paul Beyer, director of Smart Growth Planning for the New York State Department of State. He will speak about how New York's age-friendly designation overlaps with Smart Growth community design principles and its impact on transportation systems, active living and public health.

We will also offer twelve breakout sessions covering a variety of topics around active transportation and recreation. These include: women and bike commuting; a group bike ride with Pace Bike Share; kids on the move: active transportation to, from and at school; future streets; designing complete streets; livable communities: great places for all ages; and transportation, land use and poverty.
