StoryCorps and Immigration presentation

2015-Sep-10 @ 17:30 - 19:00

Free

In the Kate Gleason Auditorium of the Bausch and Lomb Library Building is a program titled StoryCorps and Immigration.

Since May, New Americans from all over the world have been recording their life stories with Rochester Public Library volunteers. The recordings will be archived for the Library of Congress, the Rochester Public Library, and StoryCorps, a national nonprofit well known for its affiliate series through the National Public Radio (NPR). Join us in the Kate Gleason Auditorium for the first public airing of excerpts from their stories. A panel of experts will touch upon a unique learning opportunity as we celebrate our multinational neighbors, and show how immigrant communities old and new contribute to life in our city. These experts include Walter Ruehle, an attorney with the Immigration Law Unit of The Legal Aid Society of Rochester, and Quyen Luu, a refugee resettlement advisor through the Lake Avenue Baptist Church.
