Ryan Conrad will discuss his book Against Equality: Queer Revolution, Not Mere Inclusion.

Ryan Conrad's multi-media talk focuses on dissecting the three cornerstones of the mainstream gay and lesbian rights movement in the United States: marriage, military inclusion, and hate crime legislation—the subjects covered in each section of the recently published anthology Against Equality: Queer Revolution, Not Mere Inclusion (2014) from AK Press. Beyond discussing the dismally conservative state of queer politics today, Conrad will also talk about the Against Equality archive he co-founded in 2009 along with Yasmin Nair and its function as a historical anchor for radical queer political thought/imagination in the present and hopefully the future to come. Fellow AE collective members Yasmin Nair and Karma Chàvez will join us by video.
