The Dryden will screen Ali (Michael Mann, U.S. 2001, 157 min., 35mm) as part of the "Boxing" Day series.

Featuring some of the most realistic boxing footage in a fiction film, Ali details the life and career of "The Greatest." Focused on the decade of 1964—74, Muhammad Ali becomes heavyweight champion, changes his name from Cassius Clay, refuses to be inducted into the Army, and has his titles stripped from him, leading to the legendary "Rumble in the Jungle" against George Foreman. Will Smith earned his first Academy Award nomination for his uncanny portrayal.
