Rosemary's Baby screening
2019-Dec-28 @ 19:30 - 21:47
The Dryden will screen Rosemary's Baby (Roman Polanski, U.S. 1968, 137 min., 35mm) as part of the Once Upon a Time . . . at the Dryden series.
The first Hollywood production by the controversial French-Polish director Roman Polanski, this film solidified his standing as a significant commercial filmmaker. Featuring Mia Farrow, John Cassavetes, and Ruth Gordon, this psychological horror film delves into feminism, mental illness, Christianity, and the occult while shadowing Rosemary Woodhouse (Farrow) through the stages of her peculiar pregnancy. With long continuous takes, Polanski uses the camera to create the sensation of paranoia and conspiracy, as the plot unfolds to reveal the truly disturbing reality of its characters.
