The Dryden will screen The Nice Guys (Shane Black, U.S. 2016, 116 min., 35mm) as part of the Holidays, A Very Shane Black Christmas series.

Writer-director Shane Black travels back to the 1970s for his latest mismatched crime-solving partnership. The first time that low-rent private investigator Holland March (Ryan Gosling) and low-rent muscle-for-hire Jackson Healy (Russell Crowe) meet, Jackson breaks Holland's arm. That doesn't stop them from teaming up to find the mysterious Amelia, who hired Jackson to scare off Holland, before the menacing Blueface and Older Guy do. Gosling and Crowe are perfectly cast as the misfit gumshoes stumbling their way through 1977 Hollywood, as Black skewers everything from the porn industry to the auto industry.
