• Today at 7 p.m. at the Record Archive is The Professor Of Rap's Album Release Party for his Cole Porter album Bulldog.
  

  Rochester's own The Professor of Rap, known for his 3 high culture rap albums, has recorded an album of the songs of American Songbook composer/lyricist Cole Porter. The world release party is at the Record Archive on Thursday, January 30th at 7 Pm. This is the 96th anniversary of the day Cole Porter met his wife Linda Lee Thompson. "Bulldog" is the title of the Yale football team fight song Porter wrote while at Yale.

• Tonight at 8 p.m., the Dryden will screen Wild at Heart (David Lynch, U.S. 1990, 125 min., 35mm).
  

  Part twisted fairy tale, part Bonnie and Clyde, this Palme d'or winner takes the American road movie to outlandish new heights. Nicolas Cage and Laura Dern star as Sailor and Lula, an insatiable pair of outlaw lovers on a cross-country pilgrimage to California. With only their love to live on, Sailor strikes up a shady deal to pull a heist with the devilish Bobby Peru (Willem Dafoe), sending the couple into an intense downward spiral. A huge supporting cast including Diane Ladd, Harry Dean Stanton, Crispin Glover, and Isabella Rossellini populate the film as the distinctively Lynchian, esoteric characters that Sailor and Lula encounter on their crazed, surreal journey across America's heartland.

  America's number one pinup girl, Bettie Page, was as notorious for her beauty as she was for her audacity. However, her career was brought to a screeching halt in the late 1950s when she converted to evangelical Christianity. Uncovering the mystery clouding the years after her retirement, the black-banged beauty tells the whole story, from her humble beginnings in the South, to her inauguration of the sexual revolution, to her days as a born-again Christian and her struggles with mental illness. Made almost a decade prior to her death in 2008, Bettie Page Reveals All features rare photographs, news footage, and home video of the woman who influenced generations of models and pop stars.

  Great Chicken Wing Hunt is an award-winning documentary comedy about Buffalo wings and the band of misfits who set out to find the world's best one. Called "The Big Lebowski of documentaries" and "One of the bonafide best films of the year" by critics, Wing Hunt chronicles the rise of western New York's most famous culinary invention from lowly bar food to one of American's (and the world's) most popular dishes.

• Today from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Flying Squirrel is Struggling To Win: Anarchists Building Popular Power in Chile.
  

  Chile has a long history of working class struggle in shanty towns, factories, mines, community organizations, and schools. In the 20 years after the Us supported coup which overthrew Salvador Allende's government, much of the organizing was done underground. However after the fall of the dictatorship in 1990, there was a new rise of mass popular organization in the country. Anarchists have been a major force in the social movements, strategically organizing to build power. This has manifested in solidarity for the Mapuches, anarchists winning the student union elections at the University of Chile, militant pro-abortion actions, and libertarian labor organizations.

• Turner Classic Movie's Scott McGee will introduce and discuss a screening of Bullitt (Peter Yates, U.S. 1968, 114 min., 35mm) tonight at 8 p.m. at the Dryden.
  

  Frank Bullitt (Steve McQueen) is an all-or-nothing San Francisco cop hand-selected by an ambitious politician to protect a witness scheduled to testify against the Chicago outfit. When an attempt on the witness's life suggests that the assassins knew where to find them, Bullitt goes off the grid, moving the witness to another site, while investigating who the assassins are and who gave them the information. As important the film was to Steve Mcqueen, it was even more important to the history of stuntmen, and particularly stunt driving.

  In The Envelope by Alex Lewin, a student posts an article on his blog which catches the attention of the NSA, and when he discovers a mysterious piece of writing by his late father which might reveal wrongdoing by the U.S. Marines in Lebanon in the early 80's, he has a big decision to make. Should "what happens in the field stay in the field"? Or, when U.S. citizens find what they consider to be evidence of wrongdoing by the government, do they have a responsibility to share that evidence? What are the ethics of whistleblowing?

  The Centers for Disease Control estimates that 4 – 6 percent of children have food allergies, and 88 percent of schools have at least one child with one. Do adults have these allergies as well? Are food allergies a new occurrence, or are we simply better able to detect them? Come learn which foods are the worst offenders and what is new in food allergy research.

  All interested persons will be given the opportunity to express their views concerning the economic and social effects of the design plans, their impact on the environment and their consistency with the goals and objectives of such planning as has been promulgated by the community. The proceedings will be recorded. Persons may file written statements and other exhibits in place of or in addition to oral statements made at the public hearing.   Each year Writers and Books and Geva Theatre Center collaborate to present 2 Pages/2 Voices, an evening of short short plays written by area writers and read by area actors. Each play must be no more than two pages in length and contain no more than two characters.

• At 8 p.m., the Dryden will screen Karbid und Sauerampfer (Carbide and Sorrel, Frank Beyer, East Germany 1963, 85 min., German w/ subtitles, 35mm).
  

  Kalle is selected for the impossible task of procuring seven barrels of carbide needed to restart production at his cigarette factory from a plant 120 miles away. As a vegetarian, the argument goes, Kalle can feed himself during his hike (the titular sorrel). Transporting seven large barrels home without a truck is a challenge, but outsmarting Soviet and American soldiers as well as fending off love-starved German widows truly test Kalle's ingenuity. A hilarious comedy, innovatively[sic] photographed by acclaimed director Frank Beyer (whose Jakob the Liar, 1975, was the only East German film ever nominated for an Oscar).

  Don't miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see a five-story sculpture of Jack and his beanstalk made entirely out of balloons! • The Dryden will screen Harold and Maude (Hal Ashby, U.S. 1971, 91 min., 35mm) tonight at 8 p.m.
  

  Ashby's second feature film was a commercial failure upon its release but would eventually become one of the signature films of the 1970s. Bud Cort is Harold, a well-heeled young man obsessed with death. While biding his time committing elaborate suicide attempts, driving a hearse, and attending funerals, he stumbles upon Maude (Ruth Gordon), a free-spirited octogenarian who is equally obsessed with life. A true cult classic that owes as much to its black comedic script by Colin Higgins as to the gentle, melodic soundtrack by Cat Stevens.
