Notting Hill screening

2019-May-08 @ 19:30 - 21:34

The Dryden will screen Notting Hill (Roger Michell, U.S./U.K. 1999, 124 min., 35mm) as part of the Julia Roberts series.

Julia Roberts was the "one and only choice" for the role of Anna Scott, according to director Roger Michell and screenwriter Richard Curtis. Anna, an American film actor on a press junket in London, has a meet-cute with bookstore owner Will (Hugh Grant), which turns into a series of romantic-comedic difficulties and, ultimately, disappointment. Over the years, however, the two can't get each other out of their heads, and subsequent trips to London make it possible for a relationship between a Hollywood superstar and a shy bookseller possible. One of Roberts's most popular films, it also provides one of her most famous lines.
