Loving Vincent screening (2018-Nov-6 @ 7 p.m.)

2018-Nov-06 @ 19:00 - 20:34

The Dryden will screen Loving Vincent (Dorota Kobiela, Hugh Welchman, Poland/UK/US 2017, 94 min., DCP) as part of the Polish Film Festival.

The world's first fully oil-painted feature film brings the artwork of Vincent van Gogh to life while exploring his complicated life and controversial death. First filmed as live action with actors, each of the 65,000 frames was then hand-painted in the style of van Gogh by 125 professional painters from around the world. Drawn from meticulous research and inspired by van Gogh's masterpieces and eight hundred personal letters, the film captures the world of van Gogh in a cinematic experience like no other. Armand Roulin, who was himself a subject of van Gogh's paintings, is wrapped up in trying to figure out whether van Gogh actually killed himself or was murdered. During his quest, he discovers how great an artist van Gogh actually was. The winner of several international awards, including the European Film Award For Best Animated Feature, and a nominee for the Academy Award for Best Animated Film.
