Robin Hood—En vert et contre tous (Robin Hood—in green and against all) screening
A screening and discussion with Tom Hahn of Robin Hood—En vert et contre tous (Robin Hood—in green and against all, Jean-Marie Nizan, Philippe Traversat, France 2017, 109 min.) will be held in the Robbins Library and Koller-Collins Center 416 in the Rush Rhees Library on the UofR Campus.
Last spring, a European film production company — Arte Geie Zeta Productions —located in Paris and Hamburg shot a documentary film on the outlaw hero Robin Hood. They sent the director and camera people to England, Australia, and here to the UofR in April — to interview Professor Thomas Hahn and get stills for some of the significant items from his extensive Robin Hood collection. The footage was edited in post-production over the following months, and the finished film was released at the end of July. Join us for a screening of the film (which runs about 50 minutes) and a conversation with Tom Hahn afterward: we'll discuss Robin Hood as a media creature, his stature and history in popular culture and in the academy, his most memorable incarnations, and maybe even settle the question of whether he was "real"!
