JayceLand's Weekly Rochester Events #176: Kilometers to Rome, NY or Rome, PA
In case anybody had any doubts, O'Bagelo's is closed this weekend. I figure we can go to
First Taste Grill
(653 Park Ave.)
instead. They have some outdoor space on the street and do deli- and diner-style sandwiches and other American fare. Oh, and there's no Trivia Quiz, either on Memorial Day.
The other week I saw an
article
on
SlashDot
where they talked about a new cooling technology from a company called CoolChips. I thought the idea was a classic case of pseudo-science and really didn't look possible ... heck, they weren't even demonstrating a working prototype, nor did they get into any specifics on their website. However, I figured that since they were traded publically that the stock price would go up, and since I thought I saw the article pretty early, I might have an inside track on a bunch of speculative buying. So I looked up their symbol
(COLCF [Quicken.com])
and found they were trading right around $3. I put in an order for 50 shares and waited. The purchase hadn't been executed after and hour so I got cold feet and cancelled the order. Well, almost a week later the stock was trading at $13. Of course, the volumes were so small that I should have bought an even lot (100 shares) to guarantee my transactions would happen. In the end, I could have made almost $500 in a couple days. Doh!
What else ... oh yeah, it looks like
GarageBand.com
is back online. I reactivated the links for the handful of bands that actually used it. They were trying to get some record company to distribute CDs for the bands on the site.

Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron
