JayceLand's Weekly Rochester Events #109: Bull, Juan Belmonte

Let's see ... next week is Valentine's Day. I thought I'd keep the color scheme the same this year, but I did a themed survey and movie clip. Sorry to you folks who don't have QuickTime (stupid plugin popups!) but for the rest of you, here's a clip from Hot Shots! (not Hot Shots). Charlie Sheen as Topper Harley talks with Kevin Dunn as Lt. Commander James Block, comparing playing to win with finding someone you love and staying with them through the hard times. Just click on the picture. It's about 1.5 megabytes, by the way.

Oh, and I got to thinking about my personal "kiss of death." No, I'm not talking about the strong correlation between first kisses and last ones, but rather my capacity for liking stuff and having it simply go away. So now I have proof that it's not just me. A couple weeks ago Dan Liberto lost his comedy gig at The Blue Fox Tavern (2 Palm St. (near Kodak Park off Ridge Rd.)) and I never liked it -- heck, I've never even been there. So there!

Checked personally by Jayce The Assumptions will be at Monty's Krown (875 Monroe Ave.) tonight starting around 10:30. I seem to remember these guys as being pretty alright.

Much like last week ... if you have tickets, Barenaked Ladies with Chantal Kreviazuk will be at the Blue Cross Arena (Exchange Blvd and Broad St.) tonight at 8. Can you believe they're fetching around $25 for the cheap seats? And to think I saw them for free at the Highland Bowl just a ... umm ... decade ago.

Checked personally by Jayce Oh yeah, and the Dryden Theater at George Eastman House (900 East Ave.) will be showing Rebel Without a Cause.

Salsa Lessons at Tapas One Seventy Seven (177 Saint Paul St.) tonight at 9.

O'Bagelo's, 165 State Street, noon. Watch out as you come down, though, because starting at 11 is the Greater Rochester Cheerleading Competition at Blue Cross Arena (Exchange Blvd and Broad St.) Yah.

Today at 2:30, the Rochester Museum & Science Center (657 East Ave.) has a Science Show: Tesla and Edison. At 11 and 12:30 is Cooking with Chemistry but I think I'll miss it and eat instead.

Checked personally by Jayce The Dryden Theater at George Eastman House (900 East Ave.) will be showing Psycho tonight at 8.

Over at Monty's Krown (875 Monroe Ave.) is Dead Blue Hand with Paulie Rocco Band starting around 10. It should be a pretty good show.
