JayceLand's Weekly Rochester Events #98: Happy Birthday, Mrs. Grant
Doh! I kind of blew it because this weekend is Thanksgiving and last weeks turkey survey was supposed
to go with that. This is starting to get important because I'm now getting into the
"big time": both
Google
and
AltaVista
list this page on the first page of hits when you search for rochester weekly events.
As the election debate rages on, I'm clinging to just a couple ideas. First, nobody seems to understand
that any manner of measurement (including counting) is prone to error. The larger the amount and the
more complex the task, the more likely that error is. Second, I think we've learned from this election
that the state of Florida is stupid -- they can't
count accurately; they use error-prone punched cards to vote with; they can't follow simple instructions to
punch exactly one hole next to the candidate they want elected; they wait until an election hangs in the balance
until they reconsider their voting methods;
they want more Cuban immigrants coming to America
except for those who are not adorable children; they live in a corridor of hurricanes and still build houses that can't withstand it.
