Pre-weekend Weekend Lunch Invite 88. Connect the Dots

This past Tuesday I was just watching the clock on the VCR around 10 thinking of how it looked like people talking. At 25 after, it's two people yelling away from eachother. Then, at 29 after, one of them has turned around. By 52 they're again yelling, then 59 when one stops. Finally, 11 is when they've stopped arguing and are just standin' there. Kinda weird, eh? I mean the part about the numbers, not that (a) I noticed this and/or (b) I actually expended effort to notice this.

First up, the "big show" of Less Than Jake and The Suicide Machines with One Man Army and Pollen will be at Water Street Music Hall (204 N. Water St.) starting at 6:30.

The coolest ... er ... "coolest" thing going on is at The Bug Jar (219 Monroe Ave.) Build will be there tonight which is "cool" because the bass player is none other than Justin Gallagher, the manager of the Tops Plaza Radio Shack. By the way, the new catalogs are in.

Monty's Krown (875 Monroe Ave.) will have Section 8 starting around 10:30-ish.

Milestones (170 East Ave.) is again hosting Freetime Magazine's Most Popular Band Contest starting around 10:00-ish with Uncommon Ground versus Happy Voltage.

Dinner as always at California Rollin' at Village Gate Square (274 N. Goodman St.)

So far it's looking like another slow Friday night. The best bet looks like the return of Three Flights Up at the well designed but somewhat bland Fat Moe's (4419 Dewey Ave.)

Correction! Bob send me an e-mail and the bar double-booked so they'll be playing on the 23rd instead.
Check out their web site for some great pictures from their show at Slammers, though. :-)

O'Bagelo's, 165 State Street, noon.

The "big" local thing tonight is The Veins, The Grinders, and Paulie Rocco at Richmonds (21 Richmond St.) probably starting around 11:00-ish.

Meanwhile, the swell rockabilly band Krypton-88 is tonight at Monty's Krown (875 Monroe Ave.) They'll probably start around 10:30 and there's a $2 cover.

Also, Anita's friend's band Ten Typing Monkeys will be at Annie Murphy's Fiddlers Green (4653 Lake Ave.) I read a review that said they were pretty good.

WBER night at Red (171 St. Paul.)
