Pre-weekend Weekend Lunch Invite 63. The Whole Hogs Head

O'Bagelo's is closed this weekend. I thought I'd mention this first because quite a few of you have mentioned that you don't read much of this.

In other news, I changed the look again. And I missed Dani's hockey game.

In real news, The Kids in the Hall will be performing live at Shea's Performing Arts Center in Buffalo on April 8. Tickets available at Ticketmaster, 852-5000 (charge by phone).

Plus, for those so interested, Ellen DeGeneres will be at the Auditorium Center (875 Main St E or at East & Gibbs) on May 10 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. Tickets also available through Ticketmaster.

Next (but wait there's more ...), Tom Jones will be at the Auditorium Center (875 Main St E or at East & Gibbs) March 30 -- next Thursday.

Finally, George Carlin will be at the Auditorium Center (875 Main St E or at East & Gibbs) April 1 -- next Saturday.

Make sure to head your lazy little butts over to the House of Guitars (645 Titus Ave.) to get free passes to see High Fidelity next Wednesday (the 29th).

Even this week, there's basically no excuses this week not to see Amy's Comedy Cellar at 7:30 at Christian's Cafe in Village Gate Square (274 N. Goodman St.) The local comedians from the open mics around town get together to do a combination of stand-up and sketch comedy. It's free and you can't see it anywhere else. Oh, and Sean (Tony) and Kelly didn't like it much.

Starting this week I think, Stop Kiss is at Geva Theatre NextStage (75 Woodbury Blvd.)

Karaoke at Boston Brew Company (251 Exchange Blvd.)

Pellegrino's O'Bagelo's is closed this weekend so John can be free to freeload, so I suggest we try Pellegrino's (1120 Mount Hope Ave.) which is a new sub shop run by the owners of The Distillery. It's right where Trott Monuments used to be at the corner of Stewart Street. Meet there at noon just like usual. Their menu includes hot and cold subs, salads, and ice cream.

Maybe before you head out for the late-night stuff, check out the Stanley Kubric classic The Shining at the Dryden Theater at George Eastman House (900 East Ave.)

I had mentioned interest in going to the Maxfield Parrish show this afternoon to Sean (Tony). It's at the Memorial Art Gallery (500 University Ave.) It runs from February 20 through April 30; admission fee is $10, $9 for students w/ ID, $7 on Tuesday evenings, or 5$ with a museum pass.

Later at Monty's Krown (875 Monroe Ave.) is another rockabilly band (who happen to be very good and really more rock and less billy) Krypton-88.

Also, at Richmonds (21 Richmond St.), the Ska-ish band 5Head is playing.

Rerun city tonight on FOX ... even the new show Titus is just a rerun of last week's. Here I thought I might have to wait a while to catch the first episode. Ha!

  • Futurama: Fry and the Slurm Factory - Fry tours a soft-drink factory and is disgusted when he discovers what Slurm's secret ingredient is.
  • King of the Hill: Dog Dale Afternoon - When the guys steal Dale's cherished lawn mower as a prank, a demented Dale climbs to the top of the clock tower.
  • Simpsons: E-I-E-I D'oh! - Homer and Bart grow a highly addictive cross between tobacco and a tomato after moving to an old farm.
  • Titus: Sex With Pudding - A custom-car shop owner (Christopher Titus) deals with his unusual family. This episode: Titus suspects that Erin (Cynthia Watros) is having an affair.

Did you get your tickets to High Fidelity for free? See last Friday.

The Nuts & Bolts Improv Troupe will again be at Club Vibes (150 Andrews St.) at 8:00 p.m. It's $5 to get in and it's way totally worth it.

Furniture Porn: Okay, so maybe you can't get to it from work, but at least it's pretty funny and PG despite not being quite PC. If you like seeing or would like to see lounges and chairs shed their pillows and get it on then you're in luck with this site. :-)
