Pre-weekend weekend lunch invite 30. Seems like a nonillion years ago we started this (quintillion for you Anglophiles)

First up, the Saturday lunch will now officially start at 12:00 instead of 11:30.

Ok, let's see...movies next. I've checked off "Thomas Crown Affair" and "Bowfinger", but I absolutely will see "Mystery Men" this weekend if I have to catch a 10:00 a.m. Sunday matinee. Still in queue for me is "The Sixth Sense", and this week brings additional selections of "Mickey Blue Eyes" and, despite the saturation marketing, the new Yahoo Serious venture, "Mr. Accident".

--Thursday--
At 7:00 or so is the Poetry Reading, nay, "Poetry Slam" in what was the computer software section in Barnes & Noble. Last month I went at 7:30 and they were just wrapping up so I guess they moved the time. I don't see mention of it in Freetime or City, but they do mention the Open Mic Poetry & Music at Java Junction.

At 8:00 p.m., the Hitchcock classic "To Catch a Thief" will be playing at the Dryden.

To the interested party, "The Quitters" will be playing at Monty's Corner at 9:00 p.m.

--Friday--
At 8:00 p.m. the Dryden is showing "Jaws". Of course, all you aging hipsters will miss that to go to the East End Fest starting at 5:00 p.m. My musical plans include Buddhahood at 5:00 p.m. at the Rochester Club, then Linda Rutheford & Celtic Fire at 6:30 at Milestones. There's also drinking, finding friends, and hitting on Robin (well, not everything for everyone I guess.)

--Saturday--
Lunch at noon. Nooooooon.

"Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery" is playing at the Dryden at 8:00 p.m. followed by the 1960's themed party there. (Advance tickets are $15/$12 for members; I don't know if there'll be any at the door.)

For those looking to make fun of kids/nerds, there's the Edge Fest at High Falls which includes music (Joydrop, Citizen King, The Vertigo-go's, The Villians, White Cotton Panties, The Grinders and The Thunder Gods), skateboarding and BMX demonstrations, and a computer/video game theme. I think it's $10 for advance tickets available all over--check WBER's web page if you're interested.

--Sunday--
There's hmm...Lilith Fair at Molson Amphitheatre in Toronto at 4pm...uhh...and the 21st Annual Heritage Celebration at the Susan B. Anthony Preservation District (Madison St.).

At Park Rd. & Park Rd. Ext., there's the Churchville Lions' County Fair.

--Monday--
The Verve Pipe will be at Milestones at 8:30 p.m.

--Tuesday--
Open Mic Comedy at Token Joes at 9:30 p.m.

Well that's all our time for now. I'll try to make it more entertaining next week... :-)

The part that isn't very new follows (except for the new time):

For the last few months I've been having lunch at O'Bagelo's on State Street on Saturday at 11:30 which moved to 12:00 in August 1999. The same people who have been going have been coming back, so I guess I'm not on crack about the food being good.

I'll be there at 12:00. For the few of you who haven't been there, it's on State Street between the Federal Building and Frontier Field. It's south of 490 and north of Andrews on the west side of the street (i.e., across from West Group on the east side.) Their sign is flush against the building so it's a little hard to see unless you're looking. They've got a variety of sandwiches on bagels, fresh bread or fresh rolls, and some soups. There are some veggie stuff too, but sometimes they don't make the fried eggplant very early.

Anyhow, RSVP, call, e-mail, or just show up.
